Glass-Touched Waves

This artwork is rendered on a canvas using a pouring technique to create an abstract representation of the earth and sea. In its creation, white and two different shades of blue paint were combined in a cup and then deliberately poured onto the canvas. To manipulate and extend the paint across the canvas surface, a hair dryer was employed, effectively aiding in the spread of the liquid medium to achieve desired patterns and blending.

Before the paint had time to set, small fragments of glass were carefully placed onto the wet surface, serving a dual purpose: they add a tangible texture that can be felt and seen, and they introduce a sparkling, light-catching quality that enhances the visual experience.

The resulting composition offers a contrast between the smooth, flowing qualities of the poured paint and the sharp clarity of the glass pieces. The top portion of the canvas, dominated by blues and whites, might suggest the churning of waves or the meeting of sky and sea, while the golden hues below hint at sandy shores or the rich layers of the earth.

This painting, through its technique and materials, extends beyond a mere visual depiction; it invites a tactile interaction and provides a dynamic interplay between the matte finish of the dried paint and the glossy, reflective surfaces of the glass. The choice of colors and the strategic placement of the glass pieces contribute to an organic yet deliberate composition that captures the essence of natural elements in an imaginative and tactile manner.
